lauren moffatt: fall collection

I have just stumbled upon Lauren Moffatt’s Fall 2011 collection. Ok, I know this is overdue but oh my gah, I am in love. Everything about this collection strikes my fancy. The leather mixed with vintage florals- the geometrics combined with soft pastels, I am in heaven.  These looks are definitely going to be inspirations that will carry over to my spring style.

 Happy, happy Friday!

nye: black and gold

What are you wearing New Years Eve? I was thinking of pairing old classics such as black and gold with LOTS of sequins. Of course where you will be and what you are doing is always a factor and since my plans are still pending I do not have a set-in-stone outfit. We only have two more days til the big event so I have to start thinking!

best of 2011

I have been seeing a bunch of “best of 2011” posts on the blogs that I follow and I decided I would create my own “best of” list  for 2011 so here goes:
-         finding a job that I LOVE and owning it!
-         focusing on reestablishing my blog and determining things that are important to me and not things that I do to please others
-         breaking away from negative relationships in my life (aka being single!)
-         decorating my apartment and the amazing people I have shared it with (Suzy, Kari- that’s you!)
-         the abundant family trips (the most time spend with family in the past 4 years)- my mom, sister (and Gran) finally visited me in NYC!

Goals for 2012:
-         spend more time with the people I love and less time stressing about work
-         focus on making exercise a lifestyle and not a chore
-         connect with nature on a daily basis and enjoy copious hours at the beach
-         read more books, do more crafts and see more live concerts (cant wait for SBTRKT in April!)
-         prepare meals at home whenever possible- and bring lunch to work (this is SO hard for me!)

As the end of the year draws near it is always good to reflect on the successes and failures of the past and how to improve the future- hope this helps you create your own lists!

Found this site, little studio based in Sweden by two artists that share an art space and print posters.

a look at the runway from an illustrators eyes

These cute little drawings represent some of fashion best looks from the New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 runway.  Natalia Grosner has collaborated with trendland this past season to depict looks from the runway in her signature style.

Natalie's Fall 2011 illustrations can be seen here.

Have a fashionable day! XXX

snapshots of the weekend

Weekends around the holidays are the best! People getting together, egg nog, and gift wrapping are a few of my favorite things.  I was excited to spend some time with my friends before making the trip back home to visit with my family.  I also got alot of DIY done (of which I will post later)- homemade gifts.  Hope you are enjoying it as much as me!

I love how the olive Ben has matches his sweater to the T

Seriously. The best cheese I have ever eaten.

XOXO

"paper dresses"

I came across this editorial spread on styleeye- a blog written by my friend (and long time NYC dweller) Tira- who now lives in Denver.   This March 2011 Madame magazine featured these photos by London based art director Matthew Brodie.  Whats amazing about this is that not only the dresses- but also all of the props are made from A3 paper (this is about the equivalent of an 11 x 17 sheet of paper).  This is the type of "thinking outside the box" fashion that is truly avant-garde.  Of course I love the dresses but you have to check his website and look at the photos of heads in miniature bulidings. So cool, amazing art!

A blast of Spring for your day!

the fox is... back

Something about the fox icon has intrigued me lately and especially after seeing the below I'd say its time to get foxy! Browns and tans/camels are all I seem to be purchasing lately so any of these styles would fit perfectly into my wardrobe.  These earthy natural tones are perfect for winter!

zara florals

I love that Zara has started selling online, but lucky (or maybe unlucky?) for me I can go on my lunch break!  Right now the store is popping with florals mixed with patterns and paired with rich navy and burgundy which I love!!  Zara is a fast fashion brand that started in Spain and completes largely with H&M.  For me it is a tough call to which store I would rather shop because I love them both!

Have a great day!
