embellish

Anna Duthie is a textile designer specializing in embroidery and embellishments.  I personally love the way she presented her project, "Visualizations" during her time at Glasgow School of Art.   A recent grad, she presents this very geometric, soft and feminine textiles are layered on black and white images.  So innovative- I predict her future is full of opportunity.

checks and stripes

Turban, scarfs, prints, patterns- Marc by Marc Jacobs shows it all at the reveal of his Spring collection as part of our wonderful NY fashion week extravaganza. I have to be completely honest- I have not been following fashion week as I usually do because I have been so wrapped up in other things. Gotta love a good runway style.

fallin'

I know NYC Fashion Week is focused on Spring 2013, but I am focused on today, Fall 2012- because, well, it freakin' feels like Fall.  Really though- its a lovely day on the outside.  The fall collection from Zara is also getting me ready for this time of year. It has my name allover it- with its sophisticated rock style. Yup, that’s it.

Happy Fall Y'all

happy days.

I shared an amazing weekend with one of my bestest friends ever.  Her first time ever in NYC, we explored the ins and outs of the barber shops on the LES, the fast fashion chains around Union Square and the dark corners of the bars in Brooklyn.  Fun? Absolutely- we couldn’t stop laughing our asses off.  2 years of catching up in 2 days and it felt like no time had passed between us.  Makes me so happy. As do these pictures from Mara Hoffman's Spring 2013 collection with folk artist Maria Primachenko's work as a backdrop, - aren't they fun?

rise and shine

Welcome back to reality!! Over the weekend I vegged out.  Literally.  I watched a number of movies, talked on the phone, did some cleaning, but overall just relaxed. Now I am feeling fresh and rested! Plus, we have a short week which is even more rejuvenating- I actually woke up this am and was pumped to head out the door for work.  Its cooling down a bit here in NY and as much as I hate the winter, it is quite nice to sleep with the windows open and feel the fresh fall breeze.
